Overcame Insecurities Shooting “Burn Slow” Video

Since I’ve been on this weight loss journey, I stopped buying clothes because my body is changing drastically. I’m big & tall so it’s pretty difficult to find clothing that fit me well. When my brother Nug Life hit me up wanting to do a video for “Burn Slow” and wanted my sizes for the stylist, I got nervous. When I buy clothes I usually get them altered to fit me better. This is something I learned from my Grandpa, go to a local tailor or swap meet to get exactly what you want. He would say “don’t half ass your self.

Day of shoot, I pulled up with a couple of my pieces from home that are unique & special to me. My Granny’s denim shirt, a painted shirt by Nicholas Mayfield & jackets Lesa has gotten altered for me. Nuglife introduces me to the stylist Frank & REX. At this point, I’m not nervous anymore, just worried about them not having anything I can fit besides beanies & glasses. The first thing they had me try on was a Levi denim set, the jacket fit but the pants didn’t. Then I tried on a Dickies jump suit, i just couldn’t zip it but Frank pulled out the thread and needle & went to work; he sewed it to where the zipper wouldn’t come down. After I saw their passion & dedication, I was all the way on board.

I have to give myself credit also for the weight I’ve loss. Forreal, I don’t see change most of the time but I feel it though. This shoot showed me the progress. I’m grateful for the realization. Thank you Nuglife for setting it all up. Thank you Yazid, Carl, Frank & RE
